MIGRATION

Change systems without losing your past

The biggest fear in any change of software is the history. So the migration is not “an export to Excel”: we read your old program’s database directly.

We have a fully capable importer, and we import from other programs too: send us your database and we do it. Practices working in Odontia today came with their full history carried across — not with “we start from zero as of today”.

The usual offer when you change systems is “keep the old one for the history and start clean from today”. In practice that means two programs for ten years, and a front desk that searches in two places every time a patient asks what happened in 2019.

We do not accept that. Whatever exists in the old system comes with you.

The migration reads the old system’s database directly and stamps every row it brings across. That is what lets it re-run — or be undone entirely.

What comes across

Patients
with their demographics.
Appointments
past and future — your calendar does not empty on day one.
Treatments
with your own procedure catalog untouched: same names, same prices. We do not force you to learn a new vocabulary.
Money
charges, payments and discounts, with every patient’s balance reconciling to the cent with the old system.
History & contact log
medical history, the contact log, endodontic records and treatment plans, as notes in the record.
Photos
the whole archive, in bulk.

Repeatable and reversible

Every record that comes from the old program carries the stamp of where it came from. That is a technical detail with two very practical consequences.

First, the migration can re-run: usually one last time the day before, to catch the most recent appointments and payments, without duplicating anything.

Second, it can be lifted out whole, cleanly. If the trial does not convince you, nothing is left behind.

One point we consider important

Medical history arriving from the old system does not pass on its own into the structured fields of the card: it comes in as text, for a person to read and enter.

Unconfirmed history is not allowed to look confirmed. That costs you a couple of minutes per patient the first time you see them — and it is the right trade.

Run it alongside, changing nothing

If you want to try it seriously, we set up a practice of your own with your own procedure catalog and, if you like, with your history migrated in.

You keep it to one side for as long as you want, in parallel with whatever you use now, without changing anything in your day. And if it does not suit you, we delete it.

HOW A PRACTICE GETS IN

Would you like to see it?

A short tour of the real system, with no commitment at all — and, if you like, a test practice with your own data sitting quietly to one side.
